Native America OnTheWeb Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide an affordable marketing vehicle which promotes Native business and cultures throughout the United States and Canada, therefore allowing Native people to keep a larger portion of the dollars their talents, skills and products produce. Where we choose to spend our dollars really does make a difference.
The story behind NAOTW
In the past, we have witnessed American Indians receiving pennies on the dollars that their goods sold for in retail establishments. We know of one Indian woman who received $20 for her beautiful beadwork, which sold for $320 retail. We felt this was a gross injustice.
Through census data research, we learned there are 200,000 Native American businesses in the United States. Almost 90% are sole proprietors with an average yearly income of $30,000, which does not leave much for a marketing budget.
We set out to build a database driven directory of Native American artists and businesses with the following goals:
To our customers: We offer an affordable marketing vehicle for any Native American person wanting to eliminate the middle man and connect directly to customers.
To our audience: We offer a professional directory filled with Native American arts and products offered within a relaxing and inviting atmosphere.
We hope you feel we have succeeded and encourage you to explore all Native America has to offer!
