More than 30 American Indian and Western artists will be selected for the juried art competition sponsored by Oklahoma Indian Summer this year. The artist's work will be displayed in Community Hall in the Bartlesville Community Center throughout the weekend. Authentic Indian sculpture, paintings, clothing, gourd art, pottery, wood sculpture, basket weaving, silverwork, beadwork, leather goods and more will be available to see and purchase.
Other festival highlights include the intertribal powwow and Native American dance contests on Friday and Saturday, interactive traditional craft making and cultural demonstrations all weekend, and American Indian storytelling on Saturday,. In addition, food and craft vendors will offer their goods on grounds of the Community Center. Traders provide a variety of books, artifacts, supplies and clothing with an American Indian theme.
In celebration of the 25th anniversary, Oklahoma Indian Summer will host guest speaker Billy Mills, the only Native American to win a gold medal at the Olympics.
We look forward to seeing you at Oklahoma Indian Summer!
